Legendary fighter with the baddest nickname, Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva has announced on his MySpace page that he will be opening his own gym in Las Vegas.

It turns out that the poke Anthony “Rumble” Johnson sustained during his bout against Kevin Burns required surgery as it damaged his retina. On top of that Johnson needed stitches for a laceration that went from one end of the eye to the other. The UFC is of course covering all medical costs from injuries occurin in the octagon.

According to IFL senior vice president of communications Joe Favorito, the team-based MMA promotion will turn out the lights July 31 as its assets are sold to a yet-to-be-named buyer, confirmed today by several anonymous sources as the UFC ownership group Zuffa LLC.
